Mikhael Kale Kicked Off World MasterCard Fashion Week
Canadian Designer Mikhael Kale Debuted Modern Collection of Sleek Separates for Spring/Summer 2014 Season
Toronto, Ontario | October 18, 2013 – Mikhael Kale’s runway show launched the Spring/Summer 2014 season of World MasterCard Fashion Week in an east Toronto warehouse-turned-runway with his tightly edited collection of modern garments which play with angles, lines and shading inspired by artist Mary Reid’s geometrically rendered portraits.
“The collection is youthful and young-minded, but not young; it's directional. It's all about technique; the collection needed to go super modern. It's very streamlined, not simple, but tightly edited,” said Kale. “The result is a method we created that utilizes a leather padding technique that bonds mirrored shapes. Like many of my collections, Spring/Summer 2014 is a culmination of technique, shape and a styling direction.”
Below are a few of my favourite pieces from his collection:

I love the cutout detailing on the pants, coat, and dress. It gives the outfit a little bit of edge but still has that femininity vibe due to the body hugging knits (above). Also, what mostly caught my attention are the skirts.Kale's collection consist of knee length to right-below-the-knee length skirts (below).
I'm guessing midi skirts are definitely a trend next season (?)

Kale’s Spring/Summer 2014 World MasterCard Fashion Week runway collection of colourful cutouts and shadows, and cool moto jackets was set to music by DJ James Drummond with cement surroundings and "ghost chairs". Models walked the catwalk with hair styled by Redken’s Cynthia Duplantis, makeup by Lead Makeup Artist for Maybelline New York Canada Grace Lee and nails designed by essie Lead Artist Rita Remark.
