How I Style My Awkward Hair Length

When you're at that awkward hair length stage, the no brainer hair solution is to go either curled or.. well, that's it. Since chopping my hair off two years ago, I never let my hair grow below my shoulders. As soon as it hits that certain length, it’s been so difficult trying to do anything else to my hair. I can't even leave it straight because the ends won't cooperate. So I worked on these three hairstyles (using a ceramic flat iron from Irresistible Me) that you can add to your repertoire while you’re at that awkward hair length!

REVIEW | Irresistible Me Diamond Flat Iron

I've been travelling a lot during the first half of the year, and I always pack my Tiri "Black Tie Affair MiniToGo Iron in my luggage. The best part about it is it comes in its own travel case to keep it protected and my stuff organized. My last trip to Paris had a minor adjustment to my carry-on essentials. Instead of packing my usuals, I decided to bring this ceramic flat iron from Irresistible Me.

#emptyAGO

Ever dream of visiting the gallery without the crowds? On Thursday last week, I got the opportunity to be part of 20 Toronto photographers, bloggers, and social media influencers for an early-bird, behind-the-scenes tour before the art gallery opened to the public. This experience was the pilot event, the first of its kind at the AGO. Here are a few of the shots I've taken during and after the tour. Follow the rest of the squad's #emptyAGO experience on Instagram, and stay tuned for updates! See more at: http://artmatters.ca/wp/2016/05/emptyago-live-feed/?_sp=7ca368549b5ac500.1464714013576

Beach Cover Up

The long weekend is over, but this is also the beginning of summer. Weekends need to be spent outdoors, and get all that Vitamin D. Just don't forget your SPF and protect your skin! Whenever I decide to visit the beaches, I walk along the boardwalk or play around by the shore. Yesterday's case was different. I actually just wanted to chill under the sun and get my tan on. I'm never comfortable with wearing swimsuits in public, and this lace tunic from Stella & Dot is the perfect cover up while I stroll by the water.

School? Unusual Brunch Spot..

Happy Friday! They say, "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." For people like me who love sleeping in every morning, we rarely ever make it out of bed by 9am. If we do, it's most likely because we have to (ie. work) or because of food. I'm a huge fan of going out for brunch. Not on weekends though, because it's always busy and the lineup is crazy if you go late. So jealous of everyone who lives next door to a really good brunch spot. Not much of a big deal for me as I usually go on weekdays. Hate the crowd and waiting in line. Although at some places, their weekend brunch menu is different. On the bright side.. it's better on a weekday because it's not as busy. I can take photos and no one can judge me!

Travelling with Microsoft

My blogging career has been getting more recognition since the beginning of this year, and I'm very much thankful for all the opportunities that have been given to me. In all honesty, it's really tough. It's definitely a "make it" or "break it" industry, but you can't give up and just work as hard (or more) as everybody else. For six weeks, I've been travelling so much (in addition to fashion and press events) that I couldn't keep up with all the editing and writing I had to work on. Glad to have the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 by my side!

FAVOURITES | Toronto Fashion Week Day 5

Every time I cover Toronto Fashion Week on the blog, I feel like it always takes forever and I always feel so behind. Not complaining by any means, and I still love writing about it. Maybe next time I'd narrow it down to one post; which would just include the highlights. So without further adieu, here's Day 5 of TFW..

FAVOURITES | Toronto Fashion Week Day 4

3D printing is becoming a trend recently. Schools have started to receive 3D printers, although I really don't get the purpose of it really.. Anyway, besides my point.. The first show on the fourth day of TFW was Daniel Christian Tang, who (guess what) presented a collection of 3D printed fine jewelry.

FAVOURITES | Toronto Fashion Week Day 3

It was a full schedule on our third day of Toronto Fashion Week.

FAVOURITES | Toronto Fashion Week Day 2

Day two was a really short day for us. I ended up only attending three shows. My first one was Lamarque, which I didn't get any good shots except the ones taken from my phone. Too bad because I got the chance to sit front row. I absolutely loved her FW16 Collection. Just trust my word on it. Next show was Ellie Mae. Great collection as well for the upcoming cold season. Can they magically appear in my wardrobe?

FAVOURITES | Toronto Fashion Week Day 1

It's that time of the season. Now called Toronto Fashion Week (or simply TFW) was back at David Pecaut Square. This is the third time they've changed the name within five years, but that doesn't matter really. The first day of Toronto Fashion Week came out as a bang with Mikhael Kale as the opening show. Honestly, this designer never disappoints and always leaves a mark on the runway.

Summer Preview New Arrivals

Hello jewellery lovers! I've been a fan of Stella & Dot since I-dont-know-when. Just kidding. I discovered the brand three years ago when I was an intern at Dress for Success Toronto. In fact, I still have my first Stella & Dot piece sitting in my room. Now that I'm thinking about it, it was also my very first statement necklace. I still use it and still in very good shape. The quality of their jewellery is just phenomenal.

PHOTO DIARY | Andy Warhol: Revisited

Andy Warhol REVISITED Toronto! Revolver Gallery, founded by Canadian entrepreneur, Ron Rivlin in 2012, is an international contemporary gallery with a one-artist program focusing on the life and work of pioneer and preeminent member of pop art, Andy Warhol. With over 120 original prints and paintings in the collection, the gallery maintains one of the largest, gallery held collections of work by the artist in the world. Revolver Gallery carries on Andy’s belief that pop art is for everyone. The gallery does this by contextualizing the artist’s body of work through outreach, innovative Warhol exhibitions, partnerships with leading institutions, and the sharing of information specific to the artist’s life and work.

PHOTO DIARY | 2015 Through the Lens

Another year has gone by and just like that, we are ringing in the new year once again. 2015 passed by really quickly. Although what seems like a very short year, numerous things has happened and I've reached a few milestones in my life. I'd like to look back and reflect on how 2015 treated me. Thankfully, it was a year filled with laughter, life, and accomplishments. Unlike 2014, my biggest blessings this year came in a more personal form. I had the opportunity to travel with the closest of my friends and just with myself. I have also met a lot of amazing people, which some have become really good friends of mine. Below are photos of what I've experienced in the past year: travelling, collaborations, different cultures, great company, and new opportunities. Cheers to 2016! Hoping this year will be as eventful as the last.

PHOTO DIARY | #GentsExpo 2015

Toronto Men's Fashion Week is long gone but that doesn't mean that's the end of a full event for you handsome gents! Of course, ladies are always welcome to attend. On the weekend that just passed, The Gentlemen's Expo has returned for its third year with tons of great attractions, entertainment, and all things related to fashion, tech, music, sports, cars, food, and most importantly, alcohol. That's pretty much why guys love to attend these kinds of events. All for the booze. Someone tell me I'm wrong ;p

Sassoon Salon - Yorkville

A few weeks ago, I got an email from Jessica of Budman PR inviting me to take a tour around Sassoon Salon's new space in Yorkville (122 Scollard St.) She also offered me to receive a complimentary service. It was such a great timing because I was already planning to get my hair done before I go on my trip. Also, last time I had my hair dyed was in March. PURPLE! Then it faded. So it was time for a change.

Inside My Little Black Bags

Happy Hump Day everyone! Well.. Not really for me because I am currently sitting in front of my desk, writing this post. Plus the weather is not looking so good at the moment so there's a higher probability that I will stay in for the rest of the day. Which what my routine looks like on my days off.

At the beginning of this month I was contacted by Eva Luk from The Exhibit team. Confused about what this is about? The Exhibit is a premier online destination for fashion jewelry based in Toronto. They are officially launching in May 1st. Only a few days left! Love supporting local brands! I received three beautiful pieces from The Exhibit and I can't wait to share them with you. Read til the end to access the website.

WMCFW DAY 5: Tatsuaki, Jaan Choxi, The Wild North, 3.Paradis, Stephan Caras, Mikael D

I cannot believe it's over. The final day of World MasterCard Fashion Week has yet again wrapped up for another season. Of course, I was very excited to see old friends. Although a week is not enough to catch up because of the hectic schedule during the day. Too bad I only see them twice a year. Or at some events coincidentally.  I've also met a lot more of amazing and talented people in the industry - whether it be photographers, fellow bloggers, and even designers. See you all again in six months!

WMCFW DAY 4: Kania, Hilary Macmillan, Lole, Farley Chatto, Soia & Kyo, Rudsak

When you attend every single show of the week, by the fourth day some of us might feel a bit hungover. Who knows that saying, "One tequila.. two tequila.. three tequila.. floor"? Or maybe it's just me? Either way, the same kind of concept applies to WMCFW.  Not from the alcohol intake in-between shows (although that Grey Goose booth looks very tempting) *wink wink* It actually takes a lot out of your energy. While society often thinks of fashion as a glamorous and superficial industry, it is in fact hard work. No one really knows what it's like to work backstage. Except, you know, people in the business. Oh the pressure. Just think of a production of a play. It's exactly the same.

WMCFW DAY 3: Atelier Wonder, Triarchy, Malorie Urbanovitch, Klaxon Howl, Hayley Elsaesser, Mackage

Whether you were in the office or at World MasterCard Fashion Week, Wednesday still felt like a "hump day." With two days of Canadian designers already behind us (see my recaps of Day 1 and Day 2), some of us have felt a little "fashion weak." #firstworldproblems. Day 3 at WMCFW started off with the Toronto Fashion Incubator's Press and Buyer's Brunch. This two-day event showcases the best in emerging talents. It's an amazing opportunity for media and retailers to directly interact with designers and their creations.

For lovers of street style, this was definitely the day to be at David Pecaut Square. Atelier Wonder and Hayley Elsaesser presented unisex collections that drifted heavily from the WMCFW norm of more traditional high-end womenswear.
