First Day of Fall

I cannot believe it.. Summer is officially over, although temperatures haven't dropped drastically as of yet (Thankfully!). We are currently still on those hot and humid days, but finally manageable. It's that time when you would need to pack a light jacket for those cool mornings and chilly nights. And the best part, I am no longer melting whenever I'm about and about in the city. Kind of. While I'm a bit sad that summer is over, I am also very excited for fall. In case you don't know, fall is my absolute favourite season. And no, I'm not about that "basic" lifestyle - pumpkin spice lattes, flannel shirts, apple picking, Halloween. You know. Those. Reason is.. I'm thrilled about fall fashion (can't wait to wear all the layers!), and every year I am amazed at the leaves changing colours. There's something about nature preparing itself to hibernate for winter that fascinates me more than seeing all the flowers blossom in the spring. What's your favourite season?

The Waiting Game

I'm one of those people who always misses a package the day it gets delivered. This is mainly due to the fact that I used to be always out when I expect one. Today was different. Well.. yesterday. Package came early afternoon. I literally missed it by a minute. ONE MINUTE. Two, at most. Like an impatient person, I tried to call the company and asked if they could reschedule later that day. Unfortunately, no luck for me. So had to wait until the next day to get it delivered. One thing that sucks about knowing when a package arrives is that I wasted a beautiful summer day. Had to stay indoors to wait for the phone to ring. It's like waiting for a man to call you after a date, but in this case.. it's the delivery guy!

Striped Shift Dress

Coincidentally enough.. I wore the same dress I have in this post during the #emptyAGO tour this morning. I was lucky enough to be able to walk around, take pictures, and meet with a few of Toronto photographers, social media influencers, and content creators before the gallery opens to the public. Will be posting about my experience soon. So stay tuned! In the hot summer days, I like to throw on a dress rather than wearing shorts. I just feel like it's more breathable. Dresses are also great when you're in a rush or feel lazy. You'll look like you thought about your outfit when you actually didn't. Who doesn't love that?

White Perforated Oxfords

Is there an item in your wardrobe that you've been obsessing with for months? I do. This pair of perforated oxfords has been my go-to (instead of my usual Converse) when I wanna wear white. I picked them up at Marshalls sometime in February, so it's been a couple of months. I was always a ballet flats kind of girl until last year, when I upgraded to a "loafers" phase. Now, oxford shoes have their time to shine. These are actually my first, and I am loving them!It adds a bit of masculinity. Definitely still on a lookout for more.

Low Ponytail Style

Gloomy day calls for a gloomy outfit. Not really, you get my point.. Just want to complement the weather. As I am writing this post.. I realized that for the first time, my hair is in a low ponytail. My hair is never in a ponytail! Not out in public anyway. This is such a huge shock for me. --- Let us please take a moment . .. .

I know, such a #firstworldproblem .. Though I now know the reason behind this. Whenever my hair grows to an awkward length, I attempt to tuck them inside my collar or under a scarf because my ends wouldn't stay straight. Clearly, I forgot to wear a scarf to hide my uncooperative locks. Hence, the use of a hair tie.

All About the Primary

Since the days are getting brighter and longer, it's time to bring out the best of Spring. I'm gonna try (although I can't promise) to stay away from darker shades. A couple of outfit posts ago (click here), I talked how complementary colours always go complement each other. Heh, get it? This time it's all about the "root of all other hue imaginable," or the "parents of the colour family." PRIMARY COLOURS!

Keep reading and see how I put them together..

Old School and Oversized

Who knew I could rock a men's jacket? Not even me! I finally had the chance to attend the Toronto Vintage Clothing show last month, and I got to see a lot of good stuff! One of them was this Pepsi-Cola men's bomber. It was love at first sight I tell you. I took it out of the rack, realized it was a size extra large, and had to figure out a way how to make it work. Rolling the sleeves always does the trick!

Complemetary Colours

Seems like Toronto has skipped Spring this year. After a few days of freezing cold and snow about two weeks ago, the temperature suddenly skyrocketed to the twenties!! I'm not kidding. Definitely shorts weather today. Though not my point.. What matters most is that the sun is shining to brightly right now! I feel very much inspired to begin wearing lots and lots of colours.

One Confusing Spring Weather

If you follow me on Snapchat ( @tffnycrz ) or Instagram ( @tiffanyc_ ) or Twitter ( @CitySleekChic ), then you know that I recently got back from my Montréal trip. Since I travelled alone, I decided to collaborate with a few photographers there. It's my version of meeting people and familiarize my way around the city.

Deceive the Eyes

Are you able to tell the amount of layers on me? Probably, if you look closely. The best thing about it is that it doesn't look like I'm wearing SIX items of clothing. Did you guess right? Winter is all about layers to keep warm and stay stylish. The secret is to wear thermals as the first layer. I cannot stress how important this is. So how did I manage to wear this much clothing and look like I only have two? Light fabrics and dark colours. Wearing black as my outer layer gives the illusion of a slimmer silhouette. Pairing it with a thigh high black boots streams down your figure, making you look taller than you actually are.

Layers Upon Layers

Maxi (or floor-length) dresses were one of the trends for the summer last year. And who says you can't wear them during the cold months too? Definitely not me. Dresses, in my opinion, are the most versatile piece a girl can have in her wardrobe. It's one of those things where you look like you made an effort planning an outfit without actually making the effort. Best. Feeling. Ever. Also, layering is key to keep warm when the temperatures drop. Wearing a black poncho on top of the dress and vest slims you down although you have three different layers on. It won't look bulky at all.

SUNDAY MORNING. COLD AND RAINY. GREY SKIES. EMPTY STREETS. COZY SHEETS.

City Sleek Chic x The Individualist

’Tis the season to be jolly. Christmas is over and we haven't experienced major snow yet. Very thankful for that but frightening at the same time. All other things aside and not talk about the weather, I had a chance to meet up with Shafi of The Individualist Toronto for a collaboration on a Day-to-Night outfits.

Too Hot To Care

I swear it's not what you're thinking! Toronto summer is not the very best. The sun is out - which is good - but the breeze is very warm. Wearing a knit dress wasn't a great idea either for this kind of weather. Yes, us bloggers make mistakes once in a while. Fashion over comfort, right? NOT. It was way too hot and I was sweating buckets. Literally. So I decided to wear a hat to cover my drenched forehead. I seriously looked like a boy in this outfit. But clearly it didn't matter. Hence the title.

Before the Sun Sets

I'm no expert but they say the golden hour is one of the best times to take pictures. Most say it's the time of day with the best lighting. In case your not familiar with the phrase, the golden hour is a period just after sunrise or right before sunset. A lot of photographers shoot the hour (usually) before sunset because who loves waking up super early in the morning, really. Especially during the summer when the sun rises at like 5am! All kidding aside, I also feel like it's a great time to take photos because the light is so much softer and the temperature cools down a bit at the end of the day.

Such Random Places

The photos I put up for my outfit posts are usually in the same place. I don't normally do my #OOTD in different locations. Cohesion is key, right? In some rare occasions, I take photos in different places. Most likely because I didn't have enough photos that I liked in that certain area. So I end up with a variety of shots in random places. Just like in here.. At times like this, I tell myself to scout locations first.

White Floral Maxi

Hello everyone! Sorry for being MIA for two weeks! I had my midterms on the first week of school so I hadn't had the chance to write a blog post. The week after that I flew to New York for five days! Life couldn't have been better. It was such a great trip I didn't want to leave. I'll let you know all the details soon. But I had to go back to reality and continue my life. I will be back for sure though. One day soon.

Now to this gloomy weather in Toronto I decided to publish a very bright outfit post. Makes me miss New York a lot more! The week I was there it was very sunny. Ridiculously hot. But no rain whatsoever. This floral maxi dress makes me feel super tall and I look like I'm going to a garden wedding or something. To dress it down a bit, I threw on a nice blue denim jacket.

Sky High Heels

As you know.. ripped, high waisted, loose fitted jeans have been my thing for the past year or so. I love it's versatility when it comes to styling. I can mix and match it with literally everything! Anyway, this is not the point of this post. *cough look up to the title cough* I believe this is one of the very few outfit posts that I am wearing heels. This might even be the very first. I don't wear heels on a daily basis but some days I really love feeling super tall. #shortgirlprobs. This pair of ankle boots is one of my go-to heels because it's really comfortable. I could wear this for more than a couple of hours and my feet won't get super sore.

Hues Of Purple

For some unknown reason, I went through a mini phase where I decided to wear oversize graphic tees. I think I thought I'd wear it by itself. You know.. as a shirt dress. Honestly it definitely looked really cute on but I realized I don't have the confidence wearing that out. Just a tad bit too short. It's like wearing a super short dress/skirt/whatever. And that's not really my thing. What did I do? Paired it with pants. I haven't been a t-shirt and jeans kind of girl for the past i don't know about a year now. I feels very dressed down whenever I wear the ensemble. It's a very basic and go-to outfit for running around the city. I have to find a way to make me feel like I'm dressed up when I want to go for a t-shirt and jeans look.

Tuck It In Unevenly

Hello everyone, I'm very sorry for the lack of posts for the past two weeks! I had a five-day work week before summer school started then got busy (but not really) during the first week of classes. I planned to write an outfit post on my breaks between classes but for some reason, I didn't get a chance to.

Anyway, here's my long awaited post! ...for those you are impatiently waiting for an update ;) Warmer weather means more opportunities to shoot outdoors! If you've been following this blog for at least a year, then you know I work with Jun Her of http://thekoreanbarber.tumblr.com for my outfit photos. Now that we're getting a lot more sunny days, it's time to hit the streets again!
