Palm Trees and Amusement Parks

Happy Sunday! It's almost the end of the summer, and what better way than to spend the rest of it under the sun? Amusement parks, duh.. Although these images were taken when I was in LA at the end of February, I just had to share it with you as I will be going to CNE (aka The Ex) tonight. This annual event marks the end of this hot season, and is very known for its crazy, unhealthy, yet amazing food! Reading Narcity articles is part of my daily routine and they've written a list of mouthwatering dishes here. Tell me, doesn't a Churro Burger sounds so dangerously good? It's like a two-in-one deal - lunch and dessert. Both sweet and savoury. I'll definitely be having some of that!

Summer Wall Inspiration

Do you ever wake up and get out of bed full of inspiration in front of you? Literally right in front of your eyes. I do! I do! Back in my old apartment, I decided to put up a gallery wall in the corner of the living room. Mainly because I used to hang around in the living room too much. Since moving to a new place a year ago, I find myself isolating in the bedroom more often. It's just more quiet and helps me focus more on doing work (or watching my TV series). When I discovered these travel art prints from Indigo, I knew I wanted to buy more that relates to each city. Paris and New York are my top two favourite cities. So when I finally got the chance to visit both, I had to purchase a few prints from local artists. One exception on this wall is the NYC skyline (top right) - which I got from Toronto's very own Ave Mariabell Designs.

Heatwave in Toronto

Oh Canada, our home and native land... I love you and all, but I just can't deal with these extreme weather alerts! Extreme heat in the summer, and extreme cold during winter. When will it ever be just right? All we can do it dress appropriately to survive ;P Toronto has been on a heat warning for the past week, and will continue to be hoooot in the next few days! I think dresses are a closet staple in order to stay cool without making you resort to wearing a tiny piece of fabric. You know, skintight tank tops and insanely short shorts. It's true lightweight pieces are great for the summer, but the key thing is to wear loose clothing. The less fabric that touches your skin, the more it'll feel less hot. Mainly because there's plenty of room for air to circulate, which then gives space for your skin to breathe. Choose the ones that are made out of natural fibers!

Kid at Heart; Forever Young

My dad came back from Los Angeles on Monday night, surprising my sister and I with a couple of "presents." Fun fact: I AM A MUG COLLECTOR. So he got me a Disneyland mug. Which brings me to today's outfit post.. Let's be honest, we all are a kid at heart. I've been a fan of Disney ever since I was a child. I almost cried when I got to see the infamous fireworks in Disneyland in California back in February. When my sister told me I could wear this shirt, I didn't hesitate at all!

PHOTO DIARY | Bonjour, Paris - Day 5

Can't believe I'm posting our last day in Paris! If I haven't said this enough on my travel photo diaries, it's always bittersweet leaving a different city. I think it's due to the fact that it's a definite sign that vacation is over, and it's time to go back home and face the real world. Back to being an adult and all the things that surrounds it. But yeah, we still had all morning to sightsee so we journeyed up to visit Sacré-Cœur Basilica. It has the best view of all of Paris. Better than the view from the Eiffel Tower in my opinion. Then we walked around Montmartre and came across an artisan market. We weren't allowed to take photos unfortunately, but I discreetly filmed a bit of it here. Such a rebel, I know. It was really cool to witness local artists create their work in front of you. You get to see their talent and  their hard work.

Eyewear brand Warby Parker is officially opening up shop in Canada, with a new downtown Toronto location marking its first international retail store. The new shop, opening to the public Aug. 6 (that's tomorrow!), is located on the city’s trendy Queen St. West. The brand, which has offices in New York and Nashville, but didn’t have a retail presence here until now.  It could be the first of several locations, as the retailer tests out the Canadian market following the launch of its Canadian e-commerce site in 2012.
Come on in and mosey around.
Located on Canada's "coolest street," the store's interior have a design inspired by classic libraries, including details like terrazzo-tiled floors, custom-made brass lamps and colourful book displays (including works by Canadian authors available for purchase). Toronto artist Micah Lexier has also created a series of three newsprint books, free to customers, made in collaboration with Canadian artists Maggie Groat, Mark Laliberte, and artist collective VSVSVS. The retailer also teamed up with artist Jason Polan on an illustrated map of the best places to sit and read in the Toronto neighbourhood (with limited-edition glasses cloths printed with the map available to the store’s early customers this weekend).
It’s also created special location-based Snapchat filters for its store. How cool is that!?

Like A Million Bucks

Please note that this product was sent to me for free by Stella & Dot in exchange for my review.

Receiving packages is one of my favourite things of being a blogger. Unexpected ones are the very best! Got this Marcell Collar Necklace from Stella & Dot. Definitely one of the most versatile and accessible pieces in the Fall Collection. Collars, again, are a huge trend. This is an essential collar that can really be layered or worn alone. Since I'm wearing an off-shoulder dress, I decided to add this collar necklace - drawing the eyes upwards and forgetting how shapeless the dress is. Really great piece at an amazing price point! It's got a vintage finish, genuine black leather wrapped around it. Somehow this looks gives off that high-end feel. Is it the hair, the dress, or the heels? Who knows.

PHOTO DIARY | Bonjour, Paris - Day 4

A week or two after this trip, I decided to rewatch The Da Vinci Code movie for fun. Also, to understand the movie better. Glad I did, because it's set in Paris (some scenes specifically at The Louvre). Don't you love it when you see a film, and you recognize the location because you've been there. I got way too excited, and tell myself that I've actually seen that area with my own eyes! Hah, I feel butterflies in my stomach just by thinking about it. Besides that.. I absolutely love this museum. You honestly need a full day in order to see each exhibit. We didn't get to unfortunately. As if I don't have enough reasons to go back to Paris. We had planned on visiting to Notre Dame Cathedral and the Panthéon, because they close early. As I've mentioned on my post here, we've only seen the outside. Then, we had a nice dinner at Café Panis.
